Which are the best beauty schools in Florida?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Best beauty school

I want to go to a beauty school and i live in florida, can anyone give me any opinons?

If you’re really good, the school won’t matter.
You will be required to learn certain things to pass the State Board exam.
A Vocational Technical School will teach those things, for a lot less $$, than a private school will charge you. They will also help you apply for financial aide, if you need it.
If you have the big bucks, a Redken Academy, will teach you how to pass State Board and how to be a Redken Colorist.
There are other private schools, throughout the State, which cost more than a Vo-Tech, but are less than Redken.
My advice to you is:
Visit several schools, talk to the instructors and the students.
Ask your hairdresser, if she attended a local school and how she liked it.
Perhaps, you could find a job as a shampoo assistant, so you could see how things work in a real salon setting, before making a final decision.
Your final phase of training will begin in the salon and will continue until you no longer love being a hairdresser. Every salon operates differently, so you have to be flexible enough to learn a new set-up.
You will learn something from every hairdresser you work with; some good, some not so good.

And my final piece of advice, if you decide to become a hairdresser is how to properly clean color bottles:
Put about 1/4 (one quarter) teaspoon of regular table salt in your color bottle(s), filll the bottle half way with warm water, replace the cap, cover the spout with your finger, shake vigorously, rinse with warm water and replace the cap, so that you don’t loose it. The salt will make the color release from the sides of the bottle.

Best of luck!

Can I drop out of school and go to beauty school?

I live in Victoria, BC. I was wondering if i could go to beauty school instead of high school, to get my hairdressing career to speed up a bit. I know it’s what i want to do in my life, but do you have to graduate high school to become a hairdresser without waiting till your 19?

No…You have to graduate School to even start.

I want to open a beauty salon?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Beauty salon schools

I’m going to start cosmetology school soon. I love to do hair, but what I really want to do is own a salon. After I get my license, is there anything else I need to do or know to open up a salon?

i agree with SuperC, PLUS:

You need an established clientele before you open a salon.

You should also work at a high traffic chain salon for a few years to get fast experience.

You dont want to get a bad reputation at your salon, learn the practice at a chain first.

The is common (wink, wink) practice in the industry.

What is the budget of materials for beauty school?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Best beauty school

I’m thinking of going to beauty school and well the monthly fee is good(for 11 month is the duration of the school) and i would like to know how much would you spend on materials and all that stuff. And i already have somethings like a curling iron, a straighter, blow dryer, manicure set (simple one) but NOT scissors. So with what i have how much approximately would i spend. Hope can help & thanks in advance.

it depends on the type of school your going to.

more expensive schools will supply most of the materials
if not all materials.

but if your like me.
my school didn’t supply anything.

I bought a smock $20
mannequin head a cheap one is $20 average is about 50 +
you’ll need rat tail and regular combs which are pretty cheap.
rollers in all sizes and perm rods.
curling iron
flat iron
blow dryer
color bowls and brushes.
a good manicure set

i need lotions and toners for facials as well.

start with cheap scissors while your a junior and splurge on expenisve ones when you become a senior.

scissors will be your most expensive purchase.
and that can be anywhere from 50 to 300+ depending on the type and the waranty.

bonus: while in beauty school you’ll get discounts from most of the beauty stores where you buy your supplies…which always helps with the cost, ebay is also a good place to check for supplies.

I can’t remember how much I spent but I hope this give you a rough estimate.

hope this helps =)

Beauty school for full time college student?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: School of beauty

I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, but I would like to go to Beauty School also. What are my options? I would like to take night courses possibly but when I go home for the summer, I will obviously not be in town. Could i transfer to one close to home?

Because each beauty school is different you may want to schedule a tour and get your questions answered. Night school is possible. That is what I am doing now at The Vision Academy. I know that a lot of schools, like Paul Mitchell Schools are located throughout the United States, so it may be possible to transfer to the same branch. Another possibility would be to attend beauty school once you are back in your original location so you don’t have to worry about transferring.

I’m thinking about going to a beauty school for my salon services…?

I’m a little nervous, though. I would like to get lo-lights done. Has anyone ever gone to one…did you like it, hate it?

I was nervous, too, but they have the instructors there the whole time so if something goes wrong it won’t be a catastrophe.

If you happen to come across one where they’re going it alone (I don’t think they exist, but if…) then I wouldn’t chance it.

Training in Beauty Therapy

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Beauty salon schools

Training in Beauty Therapy requires every student to practice on each other, so you will be receiving treatments as well as giving. Once a certain standard has been reached, you will be expected to work on paying clients (not students) who attend our in-house beauty salon – London Esthetique. You may be required to work in the salon on one late night during the week. This is the best way a student can experience a realistic salon environment and learn how to meet the expectations of demanding clients to professional standards.

To go to beauty school, do I need to take visual arts in highschool?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: School of beauty

I want to go to beauty school when I grow up. Some people told me I need to take visual arts and others said I don’t. I want to specialize in party hairdo’s. I know I don’t know a lot, but it would be great if some of you guys can tell me what I need to take.
Thanks!
Thanks for your answers. I have taken out of school art classes for over 5 years (I was one of the best students) and I didn’t want to take it again in highschool.

You don’t *have* to take visual arts to get into beauty school, but it may make you a better hairdresser and artist if you do. It’ll benefit you, to have an artistic knowledge. Hair and beauty is all about creativity, and art classes can help you learn to work those muscles. So if you’re interested in taking some art classes, do so. It can only help.

You may also want to see if you can get involved in your school’s theater productions, and see if you can do hair and makeup for them. It’s worth asking about. Likewise, you can see if any local community theaters near you could take you on as a helper in that sort of thing. It’d be fun, and it’d start building your skills in that area.

Lastly, see if you can’t get a job of some sort in a local beauty shop. You won’t be doing hair, but you will gain exposure to the environment and the business, and it’ll give you a reference, and it’ll look good on a resume.

Good luck!
