Demand for best estheticians experiences rapid growth

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Best beauty school

Which beauty-related occupation will experience the greatest gain?  Estheticians and other skin care specialists, says the bureau of labor statistics.  Driven by the popularity of advanced skin care treatments and the population’s desire for a youthful appearance, estheticians can expect almost a 38 percent increase in job openings over the next few years.

Now, is the time for aspiring skin care professionals to prepare for successful careers by choosing the right esthetician school, academy or college. And for good reason: Not only does our population continue to increase but people are living and working longer. Today’s worker recognizes the importance of a good, personal appearance both on and off the job, and expects more of their ‘look’ as each year passes. As a result, demand for skilled estheticians who make the most of hot trends in specialized skin care treatments will continue to increase.

As a licensed skin care consultant, you might work in a salon, day spa, hotel, or even on a cruise ship.  Your day begins by checking your appointments, pulling client files, and reviewing their needs.  Your workstation, organized and sanitized, is ready for services, which might include: body treatments and wraps, waxing, tweezing, facials and massages, make-up anlayses, and even paraffin treatments.  You’ll provide consultation such as when your client might want to seek further treatment from a dermatologist, or what products he/she use at home to maintain the smooth, youthful look you provided.

Yet, it all starts with the critical, first step of choosing the right school for your training. A beauty school directory is a good place to start your research. Different degrees carry varying requirements, including the number of instructional hours required for licensure—which range from 600 to 2,700 or more, depending on the level of mastery. The college or design institute may even offer scholarships, ranging from $300 annually to more than $2,000 depending on the student’s abilities and past academic record.

The right cosmetology schools got it covered

Posted by: admin  :  Category: School of beauty

A top-rated, accredited beauty school or design college will offer every course you need to become a fully-trained and professional cosmetologist, esthetician, nail technician, make-up artist, or barber.

What should you look for in an academy’s curriculum?  Courses that go beyond the basics of hair styling, manicures, pedicures, nail artistry, and skin care consulting, says a local salon manager. Look for advanced programs that demonstrate trendsetting capabilities, outstanding job placement and apprenticeship programs, and can provide students with the skills sought by beauty industry professionals.

With so many career choices in the fashion world, it’s important to choose the right design school.  A beauty school directory is a good place to start researching some of the degree options available, such as hair stylist, facial and skincare specialist, nail artist/technician, image consultant, salon trainer/owner, hair and make-up consultant, beauty school educator/instructor, research and product development professional, barber, and more.  Each degree carries different requirements, including the number of hours, which range from 600 to 2,700 or more, depending on the level of mastery. The institute may even offer scholarships, ranging from $300 annually to more than $2,000 depending on the student’s abilities and past academic record.

Talk to beauty school teachers to gain greater ‘takeaway’

Posted by: admin  :  Category: School of beauty

By Laurie McLachlan Brown

Unlike high school where counseling sessions were tough to come by, even intimidating, and hundreds of students vied for time with the teacher, the low student-to-teacher ratio at top-rated beauty schools actually welcomes student input, both during and after classes.

In fact, research shows that the smartest, most motivated cosmetology students find and keep a teacher/mentor while at design schools and academies. A mentor is someone who will honor your commitment to excellence, who will push you further than you thought you could go both creatively and academically, and who has the highest expectations for your achievement.  Well, you think that might be your “best friend forever” from high school, but will she really give you the goods on that funky mannequin whose hair you just colored bright orange?

Truly, only a professional beauty school teacher will help you realize your full potential by helping to identify both your strengths and weaknesses.  As we said, it’s not like high school where teachers can be overwhelmed by dealing with hundreds, if not thousands of students, and the related pressures of educating students under the ages of 18.

At an accredited, top cosmetology school, you’re not only a student, but a professional, earning her way to the top by consistently motivating herself to succeed, and as someone who continually asks for both positive and negative feedback from trusted teachers and advisors at the design college.

“That’s what we are here for,” said one local salon program teacher.  “Yes, we stand in the front of the classroom and lecture and demonstrate, but our greatest gifts are offering the students immediate feedback while they are performing services, or if we’re just walking down the hall, or having coffee.  If the student accepts that encouragement, well, it can mean the difference between finding a mediocre job versus a great job.”

Yet all it takes is a simple gesture on the student’s part to signify that “yes, I am willing to listen and learn from you” maybe even beyond the scope of today’s lesson, with the hope that what I will take away will somehow benefit my business, my life, and my client.

Do You Spell It Cosmotology Or Cosmetology?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Best beauty school

By Laurie McLachlan Brown

Whether you spell it, “cosmotology” or the proper, “cosmetology,” it’s important to know the ABC’s of your chosen field—be it a hair stylist, nail technician, esthetician, barber, or make-up artist.  Talent accounts for a lot while “in the chair” as many stylists say, but top beauty schools and hair dressing academies know there’s a business behind the scenes that requires just as much attention, and will build these concepts into their curriculums.

Staying organized can be a key factor in your success, according to Salon school instructors.  Hair stylists who show up on time, prepare his or her workspace, keep their workstations sanitized, and greet each client as if they are the most important person in the world, demonstrate a professional commitment to their vocation.

Good recordkeeping, as well, helps designers prepare for a client’s visit by reviewing services performed in the past, at what intervals, and any special notes about his/her situation.  A savvy stylist will make at least one or two personal notations on a client’s file so that he/she can use that to express interest in the client’s well being during the next appointment.

Cosmetology schools will also teach students to incorporate a smart sales approach into each client’s visit.  Promoting hair and skin products to clients demonstrates your cutting-edge approach and knowledge of the latest trends.  Doing so, also significantly increases your salary.

Keeping a keen eye on financial structures and goals could be your greatest contribution toward achieving success, according to instructors at some of the nation’s top-rated design colleges.  High-income earners set goals for themselves each month with regard to the number of clients, services provided, and products sold.  And then support that plan by staying organized, maintaining a great attitude, and always having a good appearance.
